Make-A-Wish Foundation
The Make-A-Wish Foundation is Chi Omega Fraternity's National Philanthropy. Since the start of our alliance, Chi Omegas have made a difference in many children's lives through volunteering time, talents, and dollars. The Make-A-Wish Foundation has honored Chi Omega for the incredible volunteer efforts of our members.

In December of 2007 the Tau chapter granted the wish of a special little girl, Ann Ragan. You can view pictures of the Tau chapter granting Ann Ragan's wish in the "Tau" folder under "Photos."

Our Story
It all began on April 5, 1895, at the University of Arkansas when four young women, with the help of a local dentist, established the secrets and symbolism that today bind over 260,000 women. This small band of women founded Chi Omega after realizing a need for an organization that would foster both friendship and respect for the potential and inherent value of women. Over the years, Chi Omega has provided its members with unique opportunities in leadership, scholarship, and lifelong friendship - striving to provide each Sister with a commitment to personal integrity, excellence in academic and intellectual pursuits, intergenerational participation, community service, leadership opportunities and social enrichment.

The Tau Chapter of Chi Omega was founded at the University of Mississippi on April 5, 1899. Since this time, Chi-O has encouraged individualism in each person and stressed the importance of achieving the highest goals possible. Each young woman is unique and has a little something different to offer, creating a wonderful balance between the individual and the chapter as a whole. Memories, confidence, and fun are all enjoyed by the members of Chi Omega!

Tau
Scholarship
Sincere Learning and Creditable Scholarship means that we care about our intellectual development.  We embrace the spirit and excitement of learning throughout our lives and encourage others to better themselves.

The Tau Chapter of Chi Omega is proud to claim the highest GPA among the nine Panhellenic sororities at the University of Mississppi.  At the end of the spring semester in 2008, the chapter's overall GPA was a 3.185. Tau had fifty members who earned a 4.0 GPA in the spring semester and thirty-five members who earned a 4.0 in the fall semester.
Service
Community Service means that we want to make a difference on our campuses and in our communities.  We know that giving back to others unselfishly makes the world a better place and makes us better people.   Serving and giving helps to connect us.

The Tau Chapter of Chi Omega is very active in the community. In addition to Chi Omega's National Philanthropy, The Make-A-Wish Foundation, Tau supports the Gardner-Simmons Home for Girls in Tupelo, Mississippi. The home was named for Margaret Gardner and Robin Simmons, two of the five girls killed in a walk-a-thon accident on March 26, 1987.  The home provides a stable, nurturing environment for children who have been abandoned, abused and/or neglected. The Tau chapter hosts a crawfish boil on our back porch and an Owls at the Alley bowling tournament to raise money for the Gardner-Simmons Home for Girls. Other community service activities among Tau chapter members are the following:  Habitat for Humanity, Leap Frog, Big Brother/Sister, Relay for Life and other great commmunity service organizations around Oxford.
