Howdy! Welcome to the Xi Kappa Chapter of Chi Omega at Texas A&M University, located in College Station, Texas. The enduring traditions of Xi Kappa began on March 2, 1975 when a few area Chi Omega alumnae gathered for an informal party with a group of A&M coeds to discuss Chi Omega and the Greek system. During the week that followed, Margaret Chalfant, a representative of Chi Omega Nationals, and local alumnae conducted personal interviews. Actives from the Sam Houston and Stephen F. Austin Chapters were invited to help with the recruitment parties. On March 8, bids were issued and the Xi Kappa Chapter received its first new member class of 16 charter members. Initiation of the charter members and formal installation of the Xi Kappa chapter was held on August 23, 1975, at the Presbyterian Church of Bryan, Texas. Winnie Bowker, National President of Chi Omega, and Margaret Chalfant, Chapter Advisor, members of the Epsilon Zeta Chapter at Stephen F. Austin, and the local alumnae of Chi Omega performed the initiation ceremonies. A banquet was held that evening to welcome the new Chapter members and a reception was given the following day to honor the new initiates.
