The Make-A-Wish Foundation is Chi Omega Fraternity's National Philanthropy. Since the start of our alliance, Chi Omegas have made a difference in many children's lives through volunteering time, talents, and dollars. The Make-A-Wish Foundation has honored Chi Omega for the incredible volunteer efforts of our members.
The Zeta Kappa chapter's dedication to supporting the Make-A-Wish Foundation paid off in Spring 2013! Successful philanthropic fundraisers, such as, "Wings for Wishes" and "Kick for a Wish", raised enough money to grant two wishes! The first wish was granted to Rachael, an adorable six-year-old girl who was diagnosed with DiGeorge Syndrome. Her wish of going to Disney World to meet Goofy finally came true. The second wish was granted to Apromise, a thirteen-year-old girl who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoid Leukemia in 2011. Her wish of traveling to Disney World with her family came true this past April. The sisters of the Zeta Kappa chapter got to meet each of the wish recipients when they gathered for a time of crafts, dinner, and socializing. Thank you to everyone who contributed to our fundraisers and helped to make this possible! Our chapter is already on its way towards granting our next wish in fall 2013!
Zeta Kappa also supports the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Each year during Breast Cancer Awareness Week, we co-sponsor a Breast Cancer Awareness Speaker with Student Health Services. We also distribute pamphlets and brochures to raise awareness on campus about the disease. Our chapter also participates and volunteers at the Susan G. Komen Women's Only 5K Walk and Run.
Other philanthropies that Zeta Kappa has supported include Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Greensboro, Relay for Life, Greensboro Humane Society, Walk for Wishes, and Greensboro Department of Parks and Recreation. In addition to our own events, our chapter also participates in philanthropic events sponsored by other Fraternities and Sororities.
