The Make-A-Wish Foundation is Chi Omega Fraternity's National Philanthropy. Since the start of our alliance, Chi Omegas have made a difference in many children's lives through volunteering time, talents, and dollars. The Make-A-Wish Foundation has honored Chi Omega for the incredible volunteer efforts of our members.
Community service is one of the six fundamental purposes of the Chi Omega fraternity and is a primary focus to the women of the Gamma Lambda Chapter of Chi Omega. The women of the Gamma Lambda Chapter work together to support Chi Omega's alliance with the Make-A-Wish Foundation. To support this alliance, the women of the Rose-Hulman and ISU chapters hold an annual fundraiser called Make A Dish for Make-A-Wish.
This event helps the Make-A-Wish Foundation grant wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enish the human experience with hope, strength, and joy. Every year they ask the Make-A-Wish foundatino to allow us to sponsor a local Terre Haute Child. In 2009 we raised $4500 to send a local Vigo County girl to Disney. This year, set a goal of $6000 and came very close, raising $5990.07. In preparation for the event, girls seek support from the community to provide food, donate silent auction basket items, and sponsor carnival games. The event also includes entertainment for younger kids, music, and a 50/50 raffle and takes place in Rose-Hulman's Union with the support of Aramark and the wonderful staff. 2010 was the 7th year our chapter has held a major event in support of the Make-A-Wish Foundation and it is always a great success!
