Make-A-Wish Foundation
The Make-A-Wish Foundation is Chi Omega Fraternity's National Philanthropy. Since the start of our alliance, Chi Omegas have made a difference in many children's lives through volunteering time, talents, and dollars. The Make-A-Wish Foundation has honored Chi Omega for the incredible volunteer efforts of our members.
At
Closing Ceremonies we were recognized for Most Creative Service Project for
Whitening for Wishes. With the generous donation of time and service, Dr.
Michael Freeman, a dentist and father of our Recruitment Chair
Lauren Freeman
, whitened the teeth of nearly 30 chapter members,
family and friends with the proceeds divided among our three favorite charities:
the Make-A-Wish
Foundation (national), allowing us to qualify to grant our first Wish;
Relay for Life (campus), honoring a sister who recently lost her father to
cancer; and the MS Walk (local), where we accompanied a sister and her family,
one of whom struggles daily with MS. In addition we raised several hundred
dollars with Get Sloppy for Wishes, a sloppy joe dinner at the house, and another $1,200 at
the Walk for Wishes at the Zoo this summer (above).
The women of Lambda Delta are eager to
work towards new philanthropy goals for the upcoming school year.
This year, through many fundraisers, our chapter raised enough money to grant a wish for a 10 year old girl, named Casey. She lives in Diamond, Ohio and has Renal Cell
Carcinoma . Her wish was to go to Disney World to swim with the dolphins. In June, she traveled out of Ohio for her first time and was really excited to see the ocean.
