Activities
Participation in Activities develops us into well-rounded people.  We engage with others to develop outside interests and expose us to new and differing points of view.   By contributing in the larger world, we demonstrate that Chi Omega makes a difference in the lives of women.

Our sisters are very involved on campus. Some organizations we are a part of include: STAT (Students Today, Alumni Tomorrow), Student Wolfpack Club, Campus Crusade, NC State Homecoming Committee, College Republicans, College Democrats, Alpha Phi Omega (Service Fraternity), Pre-Vet Club, Pre-Law Club, Campus Arts Council, NCSU Dance, NCSU sports and Intramurals, University Ambassadors, Engineering Ambassadors, University Scholars, Society of Women Engineers, NCSU religious organizations, Circle K International, and many more.

Our Story
It all began on April 5, 1895, at the University of Arkansas when four young women, with the help of a local dentist, established the secrets and symbolism that today bind over 260,000 women. This small band of women founded Chi Omega after realizing a need for an organization that would foster both friendship and respect for the potential and inherent value of women. Over the years, Chi Omega has provided its members with unique opportunities in leadership, scholarship, and lifelong friendship - striving to provide each Sister with a commitment to personal integrity, excellence in academic and intellectual pursuits, intergenerational participation, community service, leadership opportunities and social enrichment.
Recruitment
Chi Omega is FUN! Every year, over 5,000 young women across America join the largest women’s fraternity in the world for sisterhood and lifelong friendships.

Dear Potential New Members,

Thank you for your interest in the Alpha Kappa chapter of Chi Omega! We are very excited to welcome a new school year and a fabulous new pledge class to our Alpha Kappa family.

Panhellenic Greek life at N.C. State is comprised of intelligent, well-rounded, and beautiful women.  Chi Omega is proud to be a thriving part of this community, contributing through our academics, leadership, and service.

You will recognize Chi Omegas on NC State campus by their lettered shirts and huge smiles!  Whether studying together in the library, eating at the Atrium on campus, or working out together in the gym, Chi Omegas enjoy spending time together.

Students and faculty look forward to our Pancake Dinner every semester to raise money for our philanthropy, Make-A-Wish Foundation.  Make-A-Wish is very close to our hearts and we love receiving letters from the children whose wishes we granted.

Please look at the rest of our website to learn more about our chapter, and don't forget
to visit N.C. State's Greek Life website (www.ncsu.edu/greeklife) to register for Sorority Rush 2009. We look forward to seeing you on the Chi O porch in September!

Chelsea Warren

Alpha Kappa President

Service
Community Service means that we want to make a difference on our campuses and in our communities.  We know that giving back to others unselfishly makes the world a better place and makes us better people.   Serving and giving helps to connect us.

The community is very important to our sisters. We serve our community in many different ways, including participating in Relay for Life, Service Raleigh, Freshman Move-in, blood drives, The Boys and Girls Club, Wake County Animal Shelter, Service Clubs and Fraternities, philanthropies of other Greek Organizations, and a variety of other community service opportunities throughout the year.

Recruitment 2009 beings in September, stop by the NCSU Greek Life website to register for formal recruitment. We can't wait to see you!

The sisters of Chi Omega are a diverse group, we have majors from Business and Accounting, to Engineering and Animal Science, we have sisters who grew up in Raleigh and sisters who grew up in California. Each sister is unique, yet we all fit together together to form the sincere sisterhood of Chi Omega

The Chi Omega Symphony articulates the true ideal of a Chi Omega Sister. Every Chi Omega carries the Symphony in her heart, and most have a favorite line upon which they often reflect.
To live constantly above snobbery of word or deed; to place scholarship before social obligations  and character before appearances; to be, in the best sense, democratic rather than 'exclusive', and lovable rather than 'popular'; to work earnestly, to speak kindly, to act sincerely, to choose  thoughtfully that course which occasion and conscience demand; to be womanly always; to be  discouraged never; in a word, to be loyal under any and all circumstances to my Fraternity and her  highest teachings and to have her welfare ever at heart that she may be a symphony of high  purpose and helpfulness in which there is no discordant note.

-Ethel Switzer Howard, Xi Chapter, Northwestern University, 1904
