Members
Each month we will spotlight members of the chapter in this section. This month, get to know Membership Director, Annie Tetrick.

Executive board member spotlight: Annie Tetrick, Membership Director
  • College, year initiated: Hanover College, 2003
  • Current job: Healthcare Recruiter, Community Health Network
  • Why did you join Chi Omega? My aunt was a Chi Omega and is still very active so I was interested in XO from the beginning. Since I went to a small school (with four sororities), it wasn't difficult for me to choose which house was best for me, and I felt Chi O just fit!
  • Favorite Chi Omega memory? I don't know that I can pick just one memory, but one that sticks out in my mind is when I was studying abroad in Australia, and I was obviously far away from all of the Hanover fun and a group of Chi Os found a phone card on spring break and found my number and called me in the middle of the afternoon and just passed the phone around the circle until it ran out of minutes. As soon as the school year was over at Hanover, my best friend (and Chi O roommate) flew to Australia to stay with me for a couple weeks!
  • Why did you join the alumnae chapter? I joined the alumnae chapter to stay involved in Chi O, to stay in touch with Chi O friends from Hanover, and to meet other Chi O's in Indy.
  • What does your role as Membership Directorentail? As Membership Director I am responsible for signing up any new and returning members to the alumnae group, starting with the August mailings, and coordinating the collected dues with our Treasurer. I also create the Membership Directory that is passed out to all current and active members.
  • Hobbies? Anything that involves spending time with my friends and not doing my homework for class. :)
  • Favorite thing to do in Indianapolis? Tough choice...I love being outside when it is nice out (it is trying so hard recently...) and being able to walk to a Colts game or a concert or whatever around downtown or just sitting out on the back porch with friends.
Interested in being part of our new member spotlight? If so, e-mail Newsletter Chair Andrea Farmer at amfarmer16@hotmail.com.

Our Story
It all began on April 5, 1895, at the University of Arkansas when four young women, with the help of a local dentist, established the secrets and symbolism that today bind over 260,000 women. This small band of women founded Chi Omega after realizing a need for an organization that would foster both friendship and respect for the potential and inherent value of women. Over the years, Chi Omega has provided its members with unique opportunities in leadership, scholarship, and lifelong friendship - striving to provide each Sister with a commitment to personal integrity, excellence in academic and intellectual pursuits, intergenerational participation, community service, leadership opportunities and social enrichment.
Service
Community Service means that we want to make a difference on our campuses and in our communities.  We know that giving back to others unselfishly makes the world a better place and makes us better people.   Serving and giving helps to connect us.

Click 'read' in the top right corner of this box to learn how Indianapolis Chi Omega Alumnae are working to benefit central Indiana.

Upcoming Philanthopy Events/Drives:

  • November brings the annual Z99.5 Request-A-Thon to benefit Make-A-Wish Foundation. Members from the alumnae chapter will be covering a two-hour shift, answering phones and taking pledges for donations. For more information, see the Make-A-Wish Foundation box on our chapter's homepage.
  • The October chapter event will feature a food drive to benefit Gleaner's Food Bank. Members in attendance are asked to bring an item or items from the Gleaner's wish list to donate. See the October event details in the calendar section of this website for more information.

Past Philanthropy Projects:

  • At the September 2008 New Member Event, alumnae gave over $200 to Ronald McDonald House of Indiana and brought 80 items from the organization's wishlist to be donated.

  • Why is it important to find Lost Sisters? These Chi Omegas are not receiving The Eleusis, your chapter mailings or any Chi Omega updates.

Nancy Walton Laurie Leadership Insititute

The Nancy Walton Laurie Leadership Institute flagship session, "An Upright Life: Exploring Life Balance," will be held March 27-29, 2009. This program allows Chi Omegas from across the country to learn about the balancing act we call "life." This program will also provide helpful solutions on how to manage the hustle and bustle of today's society. Take this opportunity to nominate yourself or another Chi Omega for this educational, fun-filled weekend in Memphis, Tenn. (Pam's note: This is a GREAT program! I attended at Convention and had a great time, met some wonderful women, and learned some key skills to deal with this crazy thing called life! See my letter in the August newsletter if you want to know what I learned!!)   For more information, contact Diana Coyle at 901.748.8600 or Dcoyle@ChiOmega.com.
