-The Women of Chi Omega-
Our Story
It all began on April 5, 1895, at the University of Arkansas when four young women, with the help of a local dentist, established the secrets and symbolism that today bind over 260,000 women. This small band of women founded Chi Omega after realizing a need for an organization that would foster both friendship and respect for the potential and inherent value of women. Over the years, Chi Omega has provided its members with unique opportunities in leadership, scholarship, and lifelong friendship - striving to provide each Sister with a commitment to personal integrity, excellence in academic and intellectual pursuits, intergenerational participation, community service, leadership opportunities and social enrichment.

To be a Chi Omega means more than what can be experienced in four years of college. We like to say that a Chi Omega isn't someone you become, but it's who you've always been... It's really as easy as that! We are all different in our own speical ways, but those differences is what makes our bond so strong.  We strive to help enrich all facets of our lives whether that be through our scholastics, or well-rounded involvement on campus and in the community, life-long friendship, career and personal development, and though it's not mentioned in our 6 purposes, we like to accomplish all these things with laughs, smiles, and an inside joke or two. When we all come together all of our different personalities and strengths work together in creating an unique, unbreakable bond of sisterhood and there's just no better place in the world to be. The memories, friendships, experiences, and personal growth continues for the rest of your life from the first exciting day of receiving your bid card and meeting the girls who will be experiencing these years of college with you, to being fully welcomed into the sisterhood during initiation continuing on the tradition like thousands before you, to your last meeting during senior week before graduation.  To be a Chi Omega means never having to say good-bye because after everything that is experienced together in these 4 years, there's a bond that you just can't break.  It means always having a home away from home.  It means simply to embrace who you are, to strive to be the best person you can be, and enjoy the companionship of those who want to see you be as happy and successful as you can possibly be.

Symphony
The Chi Omega Symphony has reflected the purposes of Chi Omega members since its composition in 1904 by Ethel Switzer Howard on the eve of her initiation into the Xi Chapter of Chi Omega at Northwestern University.

Chi Omega women are encouraged to discover the power and value behind knowing and understanding what makes Chi Omega special and unique from other Greek organizations - our Symphony. The Symphony lies close to every Chi Omega's heart and portrays what each woman strives to live by.

The Symphony reads as follows:
"To live constantly above snobbery of word or deed; to place scholarship before social obligations and character before appearances; to be, in the best sense, democratic rather than 'exclusive', and lovable rather than 'popular'; to work earnestly, to speak kindly, to act sincerely, to choose thoughtfully that course wich occasion and conscience demand; to be womanly always; to be discouraged never, in a word, to be loyal under any and all circumstances to my Fraternity and her highest teachings and to have her welfare ever at heart that she may be a symphony of high purpose and helpfulness in which there is no dicordant note."
