Friendship is what binds us to each other and to our Fraternity.  The friendships we develop in Chi Omega give us a home across geography and generations and give us lasting support throughout our lives.

Sisterhood means everything to us in Chi Omega! All year round we have numerous events beginning right after bid day until finals week every semester! In the beginning, we have what is called The First Fourteen Days which involves fourteen different activities to help our new members get to know the sisters of Chi Omega and make them feel at home. The activities include things like dinner/lunch with the sisters, paint parties and much, much more!

The fun doesn't end there!  Throughout the semester I coordinate events that involve lunch for Thanksgiving, Easter egg hunts, tons of movie nights, seeing Mardi Gras parades in the spring and going to dinners together. Our bigger events, such as our formals and swaps, are other amazing events that have themes ranging from cute and creative to classic and formal! It is always fun to dress up in fun outfits for themed events, like our recent spring 2013 "Stache Bash"!

Having sisterhood activities helps all of us find a chance to relax from the stresses of school life and to spend time together, all while making lasting memories.

High Standards
Sisterhood and High Standards means that we are women of integrity and good character.  We have high expectations for ourselves and for our Sisters.  We strive daily to be role models to others.

Hello and thank you for visiting our chapter's website!

One of Chi Omega's founding purposes is High Standards of Personnel. Each member strives to uphold high levels of respect for one's self and, in turn, respect others. It is the goal of every Chi Omega to live each day exemplifying good character. Along with ensuring the standards of the chapter as a whole, I have the honor of keeping chapter morale high!

Each semester the Personnel Chair (that's me!) plans the Actives Retreat for our sisters in which they can relax and get away, along with forming lasting bonds with the chapter members!  Our most recent Actives Retreat was held at the beautiful location of Oak Hallow Farms in fall of 2012. The sisters got to spend the day riding horses all along the lovely trails that Oak Hollow had to offer. We have also planned beach trips and floating down Styx River in inner tubes as the Actives Retreat activity in years past; all of which the sisters loved!

Membership in Chi Omega is for a lifetime. Our network of Sisters and the spirit of Chi Omega are a home wherever you are. We invite you to connect!
Make-A-Wish Foundation
The Make-A-Wish Foundation is Chi Omega Fraternity's National Philanthropy. Since the start of our alliance, Chi Omegas have made a difference in many children's lives through volunteering time, talents, and dollars. The Make-A-Wish Foundation has honored Chi Omega for the incredible volunteer efforts of our members.

Make-A-Wish is about making a wish come true for a child with a life threatening medical condition. It's about giving that child and his or her family the hope, strength and joy they need. That hope that comes from their wish being granted can lead to an improvement in a child's physical health. That is where Chi Omega's come in; we help raise money to grant those wishes and give children hope! Supporting our philanthropy 110% is a vital part of being a Chi Omega and helping the Make-A-Wish foundation is a passion all our sisters share.

More than 760 wishes have been granted because of our sisters' efforts. This is why the Beta Theta chapter of Chi Omega has accepted the union and has strived to provide every ounce of support possible. We host events and fundraisers throughout the year, including an annual singing and dancing competition among campus organizations called Songfest, which has become the longest standing tradition on the University of South Alabama's campus. At our last Songfest competition, which was fall of 2012, we were able to raise over $34,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation! More recently, we have established an annual Walk for Wishes, a one mile fun walk. On USA's campus this past spring, we organized our walk to be a Color Run! The sisters threw paint powder at walkers/runners to make for a fun and 'colorful' way to raise money for Make-A-Wish. Along with the walk we held, we also worked with Mobile's very own BayBears Baseball team to have a night just for the Make-A-Wish children! Combined, we managed to raise $5,000 for our Philanthropy; and that's just the beginning!

Each dollar raised is a step closer to granting another child's wish. Every dollar raised reinforces why Chi Omega's are passionate about Make-A-Wish. Our chapter has been lucky enough to have the opportunity to interact with local wish children. This makes every effort more important to our sisters. Getting to see the smiles on their faces and their families' faces when they hear their wish is being made possible by our chapter means the world to us. Because of our efforts, their dreams of flying to Hawaii, becoming a fashion designer, living it up at Disney World, and anything else they want; get to come true.

  A Letter from Our President:

Hello and welcome to our website for the Beta Theta Chapter of Chi Omega at the University of South Alabama! My name is Tabitha Larkan and I am the current chapter president. Chi Omega women focus on academic achievement, campus involvement, and philanthropy. The Beta Theta Chapter of Chi Omega has been awarded the Dean's Cup for the past eighteen years. This prestigious award is presented to the top Greek women's group on campus and is based upon scholastic honors, campus involvement, intramural sports, and community service.

Chi Omegas are also involved in a number of campus involvement activities and honor societies including: Mortar Board, Order of Omega, the Honors Collehe, Alpha Epsilon Delta, Jaguar Marching Band, and USA Southerners. We are also proud that our sister, Ann Huang, is the Greek New Member of the year as well!

Each fall we begin the academic year with our annual Songfest song and dance competition. Not only is this South Alabama's oldest running tradition but it is also a highlight for every Greek organization on campus. Through this single fundraising event we were able to raise over $34,000 for Chi Omega's national philanthropy, the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to meeting you!

-Sister Larkan

Our Story
It all began on April 5, 1895, at the University of Arkansas when four young women, with the help of a local dentist, established the secrets and symbolism that today bind over 260,000 women. This small band of women founded Chi Omega after realizing a need for an organization that would foster both friendship and respect for the potential and inherent value of women. Over the years, Chi Omega has provided its members with unique opportunities in leadership, scholarship, and lifelong friendship - striving to provide each Sister with a commitment to personal integrity, excellence in academic and intellectual pursuits, intergenerational participation, community service, leadership opportunities and social enrichment.

Personal Development
Career and Personal Development prepares us for life’s work and makes us marketable regardless of the path we choose.  Sisters serve as mentors and coaches along the way.  Chi Omega promotes personal growth and teaches us to work earnestly at whatever we choose to do.

Our chapter has held  various events from etiquette dinners to budget planning parties to improve our life skills.

Chi Omega is FUN! Every year, over 5,000 young women across America join the largest women’s fraternity in the world for sisterhood and lifelong friendships.

For All Your Recruitment Needs,

Meet our Recruitment Chair, Bethany!

Every year, over five thousand undergraduate women across America join Chi Omega for fun

and lifelong friendships. Chi Omega offers a home in your new college

environment and a place to make your mark on the world.

You can make a difference in Chi Omega. Chi Omega can make a difference in you.

The Beta Theta Chapter of Chi Omega hopes that you will join us for recruitment this year.

Community Service means that we want to make a difference on our campuses and in our communities.  We know that giving back to others unselfishly makes the world a better place and makes us better people.   Serving and giving helps to connect us.

The Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, and The Ronald McDonald house are

some of the organizations we volunteered with this semester.

Songfest, the longest running tradition on the University of South Alabama's campus. is our annual fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. In addition, our chapter also help Make-A-Wish by throwing "Wish Granting" parties for children whose wishes will soon be fulfilled.

In addition, the Beta Theta chapter participates in various philanthrophic events throughout the Mobile area. These include Coastal Clean-up, Art for the Heart, MSPCA Pet Adoptions, the College of Medicine Gumbo/Chili Showdown, Relay for Life, MLK day of Service, Ronald Mcdonald House, Prodisee House Food Pantry, and many more.

We are proud to announce we continued this tradition of excellence at the 2013 Greek Awards Banquet by bringing home the University Dean's Cup for the 18th year in a row!
