Our Story
It all began on April 5, 1895, at the University of Arkansas when four young women, with the help of a local dentist, established the secrets and symbolism that today bind over 260,000 women. This small band of women founded Chi Omega after realizing a need for an organization that would foster both friendship and respect for the potential and inherent value of women. Over the years, Chi Omega has provided its members with unique opportunities in leadership, scholarship, and lifelong friendship - striving to provide each Sister with a commitment to personal integrity, excellence in academic and intellectual pursuits, intergenerational participation, community service, leadership opportunities and social enrichment.

The Appalachian State University Chapter, Pi Kappa, was founded on December 6, 1974. Since our founding, our chapter has exemplified our Symphony, and has become a home away from home for hundreds of women who have attended our University. Our sisterhood is the focal point of our chapter and is one of the many aspects that bind us together, in an organization that will truly last us a lifetime!

Recruitment
Chi Omega is FUN! Every year, over 5,000 young women across America join the largest women’s fraternity in the world for sisterhood and lifelong friendships.

Recruitment is such an exciting time of the year and we look forward to great conversations and meeting all of the women that have decided to participate in the PHC formal recruitment process.  All of the members of our chapter have found a home in Appalachian State University, the Greek system, and finally in Chi Omega.  Membership in Chi Omega is truly for a lifetime. We wish you all the happiness and friendship that all of us ourselves have found in Chi Omega here at ASU.

2015 Recruitment dates are September 18th-20th and 25th-27th. To register or learn more about Sorority Life at Appalachian State, visit www.greeks@appstate.edu

Please send all recommendations to CHI OMEGA FRATERNITY ASU BOX 8940 BOONE, NC 28608.  Thanks!
Service
Community Service means that we want to make a difference on our campuses and in our communities.  We know that giving back to others unselfishly makes the world a better place and makes us better people.   Serving and giving helps to connect us.

Chi Omega's national philanthropy is the Make-A-Wish Foundation! Each year we hold fall and spring philanthopy events in which 100% of our proceeds go to granting wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. Since Pi Kappa was founded we have raised $127,895.39 for Make-A-Wish! Every year we welcome a Wish Kid to ASU and throw them a party to celebrate their wish being granted! Our local philanthropy is the Hospitality House in Boone where we work to aid those in need right here in our community! To learn more about our community service and philanthropy events, visit our website under the Links section!
