Make-A-Wish Foundation
The Make-A-Wish Foundation is Chi Omega Fraternity's National Philanthropy. Since the start of our alliance, Chi Omegas have made a difference in many children's lives through volunteering time, talents, and dollars. The Make-A-Wish Foundation has honored Chi Omega for the incredible volunteer efforts of our members.

The Kappa Lambda Chapter of Chi Omega has been very involved with Make-A-Wish Chapter of San Diego. In the past few years, our chapter alone has raised over $43,042.82 and has put in 10,313 hours to help benefit the foundation. We have also have had the privilege of granting 9 wishes in the past few years!! Our first five wishes included: Haley who wanted to go to Paris, Abu who also wanted to go to Paris, Sarah who wanted to go on a Mediterranean Cruise, Embrilly who wanted to attend college, and Patrick who wanted to go to Italy!! We put much effort into making each wish unique and special for the Wish Child.
Our sixth wish was granted in December of 2010 to a 5-year-old girl named Alex who wished to be a Princess. We granted her wish by sending her and her family to Walt Disney World in Orlando to meet all the Princesses. Alex came dressed as a Princess to her wish granting party and she just lit up the entire room. The night was filled, skits, presents, food, and greeting the family. Alex's family was speechless and so grateful that Chi Omega had helped their daughter's dream come true.
Our seventh wish was granted in April 2011 for a 12-year-old girl named Stephanie. Stephanie's wish was to meet Justin Bieber and Kappa Lambda helped her dream come true. Stephanie, her family, and guests were greeted by the entire chapter at the dinner. It was a gorgeous event hosted by Kappa Lambda, which included dinner, socializing, a Justin Bieber based skit, and even a marvelous purple and silver themed cake in honor of the Bieber colors. At the end of the night, Stephanie was presented with numerous gifts all revolving around Justin Bieber, including a new backpack, blanket, posters, and even Justin Bieber school supplies. It was a memorable evening for all!
In 2012, we met our wish child Linda, who wanted to meet with her idol and inspiration Ivanka Trump. We hosted a New York-themed party, and revealed that we were sending her to New York to grant her wish. Linda, her parents, and numerous siblings all had such an amazing time that they invited our whole chapter to their house after their trip to New York to share Columbian hot chocolate and pictures and stories from their adventure.
Finally, our ninth and most recent wish was to Lee-Ann, who wished to be a model. In March of 2013, we were able to host a celebration in her honor complete with a fashion show, dinner, and photo booths - and grant to her wish, sending her to New York.

Chi Omega loves granting wishes and we are able to change a child's life by raising money through our annual fundraiser. This year, we are spearheading a brand new fundraiser, named Chi-Olympics. Set to take place in May of 2013, Chi-Olympics will involve the Greek and Athletic communities in competing in various events, while spectators are able to participate in a Walk For Wishes. Our previous fundraiser, Chi O Casino, has helped us to raise approximately $3,000 a year, and we hope that Chi-Olympics is just as successful! All of our hard work and dedication to the Make-A-Wish Foundation shines through at our wish parties. The ladies of Kappa Lambda hold the Make-A-Wish Foundation close to their hearts.

Our Story
It all began on April 5, 1895, at the University of Arkansas when four young women, with the help of a local dentist, established the secrets and symbolism that today bind over 260,000 women. This small band of women founded Chi Omega after realizing a need for an organization that would foster both friendship and respect for the potential and inherent value of women. Over the years, Chi Omega has provided its members with unique opportunities in leadership, scholarship, and lifelong friendship - striving to provide each Sister with a commitment to personal integrity, excellence in academic and intellectual pursuits, intergenerational participation, community service, leadership opportunities and social enrichment.

Welcome to the Kappa Lambda site! Our chapter was founded on April 13,1991 and ever since, we have been working on becoming a chapter that embraces all of the purposes of Chi Omega. We pride ourselves in being a chapter that embraces the motto "individually unique, together complete". The diversity within our chapter is something that we all cherish and constantly are thankful for. With so much diversity, it is common for members to run into fellow Chi Omegas everywhere and anywhere on campus. Our dedication to campus involvement, scholarship, leadership, and excellence in all that we strive to do has made Chi Omega one of the most prominent (and largest!) Greek organizations at the University of California, San Diego. Whether at a formal event together or just having lunch on campus, our sisterhood will only grow, and we continue to make an impact on our campus and in our community.
