Participation in Activities develops us into well-rounded people.  We engage with others to develop outside interests and expose us to new and differing points of view.   By contributing in the larger world, we demonstrate that Chi Omega makes a difference in the lives of women.

Friendship is what binds us to each other and to our Fraternity.  The friendships we develop in Chi Omega give us a home across geography and generations and give us lasting support throughout our lives.

One of the six valued purposes of Chi Omega, sisterhood and the friendship that comes from that is what connects the thousands of Chi Omegas across the country. We pride ourselves on the diversity that exists within our chapter and believe that it only strengthens our bonds as sisters and friends. It is the strong sense of sisterhood that enables us to work together as a chapter to uphold our values and roles as leaders, friends, and Chi Omegas. Whether it is a day at the beach, camping trips, arts and crafts or ice cream socials, our goal is to provide a place for the girls to feel comfortable knowing they are surrounded by friends who share their same values.

We also plan formal exchanges, mixers, dinners, and other fun, interactive events in order to get to know other members of the Greek system and form lasting friendships that extend beyond our sisterhood. We at Chi Omega are aiming to help build positive, long lasting relationships with other organizations to create a tighter knit Greek community on campus.

Our Story
It all began on April 5, 1895, at the University of Arkansas when four young women, with the help of a local dentist, established the secrets and symbolism that today bind over 260,000 women. This small band of women founded Chi Omega after realizing a need for an organization that would foster both friendship and respect for the potential and inherent value of women. Over the years, Chi Omega has provided its members with unique opportunities in leadership, scholarship, and lifelong friendship - striving to provide each Sister with a commitment to personal integrity, excellence in academic and intellectual pursuits, intergenerational participation, community service, leadership opportunities and social enrichment.

Story of the Omicron Mu Chapter:

Chi Omega began on the Cal Poly campus at the beginning of February. There were over 250 women that showed up for the recruitment and 126 bids were offered to women at Cal Poly. Since recruitment we have been busy establishing ourselves on the Cal Poly campus and making a strong name for ourselves.

Chi Omega is founded on six strong purposes that the women of Chi Omega strive to uphold on a daily basis. When we joined into the Chi Omega family, the Omicron Mu colony bonded with one another through the purposes and quickly became sisters.

Some highlights of the last quarter have been our New Member retreat where we learned songs, held elections, and were able to begin making event plans for the quarter.

We have participated in various philanthropies throughout campus, including a city-wide Greek clean up where we were in charge of painting over graffiti.

We have held many sisterhood events as well. The scholarship committee organized a great study group for everyone with plenty of snacks and goodies. The sisterhood committee planned a beautiful brunch the Sunday before finals to bring everyone together. It was a great excuse to hang out and rejuvenate before finals started.

The women of Chi Omega have quickly bonded to one another under the common goal of changing the status quo on the Cal Poly Campus. We are all strong leaders and will create a lasting impression for years to come.

Chi Omega is FUN! Every year, over 5,000 young women across America join the largest women’s fraternity in the world for sisterhood and lifelong friendships.

Community Service means that we want to make a difference on our campuses and in our communities.  We know that giving back to others unselfishly makes the world a better place and makes us better people.   Serving and giving helps to connect us.

Chi Omega is dedicated to show that our chapter can make a difference through our various charity and philanthropy events.  So far our memebers have participated in various activities such as "Take it to the Streets," and All-Greek neighborhood clean-up and various fraternity-sponsored philanthropy events that have allowed us to show our awareness and want for an active role in the community.  Some of our future events include beach clean ups, charity walks, and fundraising tournaments.  Our national philanthropy is the Make A Wish Foundation and we are excited to come together as sisters to plan and execute a great event in the Fall! Check back for more information on our upcomping philanthrophy event that will be hosted on October 26th!
