Welcome to formal sorority recruitment at Transylvania University! Recruitment is an exciting and unique experience that will allow you the opportunity to meet the women of each sorority on campus. At Chi Omega, we are thrilled to meet each and every one of the young women participating in recruitment this year!
When I went through recruitment two years ago, I wasn't sure where I would belong in the Greek System. It didn't take me long, however, to discover that my home was at Chi Omega! From the moment I walked through that red and yellow hall, I found so many incredible women that I knew would be more than just my friends - and they are! They are the people who challenge me, support me, believe in me and love me. Simply put, they are my sisters and I have found my "home away from home."
What makes out house special is not only the diversity of the women within, but the strength of our sisterhood. We have found a special balance in our sorority, blending fun and laughter with leadership, involvement and academics. Though we each come from a different walk in life, our paths join at Chi Omega and we have all grown so much through our time here.
No matter how you are feeling as you enter the exciting week of recruitment, I hope you will all keep an open mind as you learn about each house. Every sorority at Transy has something special to offer its members, and you are certain to find your place within the Greek system no matter who you are!
I so look forward to meeting you this September. Enjoy all that recruitment has to offer, and good luck!
Clarke Waldrop, Recruitment Chair
Chi Chapter members love community involvement and service on campus and in the Lexington community. We support our national Philanthropy, The Make-A-Wish Foundation, as well as various other local non-profit organizations, such as God's Pantry.
Make a Wish Auction: Every year the Chi Chapter of Chi-Omega holds a silent auction in the Transylvania campus center for the Make a Wish Foundation. Each member is encouraged to bring in multiple items to display and later auction off. The proceeds of these items go to the children of the Make a Wish Foundation who suffer from terminal illnesses, and hope to have their wishes granted. With help from the Chi Chapter, we grant at least one wish per year and often times two from the proceeds of the auction!
Campus Sing: During the Winter semester Chi-Omega holds an event with God's Pantry called Campus Sing. For this event, all who participate bring in a certain amount of cans asked of by their competing group or organization, in order to have an all out dance-off! The different organizations that participate usually consist of the Greek community, as well as other independent groups on campus. Every year, the entire campus community becomes active in donating hundreds of cans for God's Pantry.
Other Volunteer Opportunities: Often times, the Chi Chapter is called upon by alumni in the area to aid with many different types of voluntary functions. This can sometimes be participation in 5K's in the area, silent auctions for Cystic Fibrosis, or even fundraising/campaigning aid.
