Chapter Updates

PSI ZETA Chapter at The University of Houston has grown to over 80+ women in the last few years!  Once again they received multiple awards at the annual Panhellenic end of the year banquet.  The  chapter holds a Wish Week event every year and raises money for our National Philanthropy, the Make A Wish Foundation. To date over $56,000 has been donated to MAW.

The Kingwood/Humble Alumnae Chapter supports the Psi Zeta Chapter by providing financial scholarships to a qualified active.  Additionally, we provide food for one of the selection sesssion evenings of fall recruitment.

Our Story
It all began on April 5, 1895, at the University of Arkansas when four young women, with the help of a local dentist, established the secrets and symbolism that today bind over 260,000 women. This small band of women founded Chi Omega after realizing a need for an organization that would foster both friendship and respect for the potential and inherent value of women. Over the years, Chi Omega has provided its members with unique opportunities in leadership, scholarship, and lifelong friendship - striving to provide each Sister with a commitment to personal integrity, excellence in academic and intellectual pursuits, intergenerational participation, community service, leadership opportunities and social enrichment.
Chi Omega is FUN! Every year, over 5,000 young women across America join the largest women’s fraternity in the world for sisterhood and lifelong friendships.

Kingwood/Humble has numerous young women in Chi Omega chapters in Texas, Louisiana and beyond!  Each year we join with other Kingwood Panhellenic members to assit our seniors with the recruitment process.  We are very proud of the girls who represent us in Chi Omega chapters.

If you have any questions about the recruitment process, do not hesitate to contact Jennifer Fanning,

Sincere Learning and Creditable Scholarship means that we care about our intellectual development.  We embrace the spirit and excitement of learning throughout our lives and encourage others to better themselves.

Each fall our alumnae sell 1-pound bags of pecans to raise money for our scholarship fund.  The shelled pecans sell for $10.00 per bag and are excellent for holiday cooking or gift giving.  Last year we sold over 50 cases. In May we award scholarships to Chi Omega actives from the Kingwood/Humble area as well as one scholarship to an active of the Psi Zeta Chapter at the University of Houston.  In the past we have also made a donation to Kingwood Panhellenic and to the Chi Omega Foundation.
The Chi Omega Symphony has reflected the purposes of Chi Omega members since its composition in 1904 by Ethel Switzer Howard on the eve of her initiation into the Xi Chapter of Chi Omega at Northwestern University.
"To live constantly above snobbery of word or deed; to place scholarship before social obligations and character before appearances; to be in the best sense, democratic rather than exclusive, and lovable rather than "popular"; to work earnestly, to speak kindly, to act sincerely, to choose thoughtfully that course which occasion and conscience demand; to be womanly always; to be discouraged never; in a word to be loyal under any and all circumstances to my Fraternity and her highest teachings and to have her welfare ever at heart that she may be a symphony of high purpose and helpfulness in which there is no discordant note.

Greetings Chi Omega Sisters!

I am a Chi Omega and my name is Wrynn Wood Homman, President of the Kingwood/Humble Chi Omega Alumnae Association.  I am an initiate of the Iota Chapter (The Univeristy of Texas) and I have been proudly serving our alumane group since graduating and moving back home in 2005.

We are a small but very dedicated group of alums who assit young women from our area with recruitment and scholarships.  We currently have 25 dues paying members but over 50 Chi Omegas on our roster.

We have three general meetings (fall, winter, spring) and numerous social gatherings.  Additionallly in april we celebrated our Chi Omega birthday by having a nice Eleusinian lunch or dinner with all of our local sisters.

Each fall we sell 1-pound bags of pecans in the Kingwood/Humble community and the net proceeds benefit our scholarship fund, collegiate chapter, Chi Omega Foundation and our local Panhellenic chapter.

If you are interested in finding out more about our alumane group, do not hesitate to contact me.  We are always looking for new members and our time commitment is very small but your involvement will continue to help Chi Omega Flourish.  #sisterhoodneverstops

Yours in Chi Omega,

Wrynn Homman
