From the beginning, strong leadership has been the hallmark of Chi Omega. Our Fraternity thrives today because of the untiring efforts and wisdom displayed by Governing Council members over the past century. The Governing Council is directly responsible for policy-making and the governance of all Fraternity business. The Council members are dedicated volunteers who work day-to-day with the Executive Headquarters staff, National Leadership Consultants, national teams and committees, National Panhellenic Conference delegates, Chi Omega Foundation Board of Trustees, Chi O Creations Board of Trustees, and other Chi Omega volunteers.

Chi Omega owes much appreciation to these women who exemplify a commitment to excellence in their collective leadership.

Laura Shrode Miller
Rho Epsilon | Texas Christian University

 

Laura is an initiate of Rho Epsilon Chapter at Texas Christian University. She served as Vice President and President of the Student Body and graduated Magna Cum Laude in Marketing.

Professionally, Laura is Fort Worth Market President of Veritex Community Bank.  She has more than 40 years in business and banking.

Laura has an extensive Chi Omega volunteer resume.  She served as an advisor to Rho Epsilon Chapter for 30 years–from 1980 to 2010. She was a founding member of the National Recruitment Team in 1988 and served as its chair from 1991-1998. Laura directed the presentations on recruitment at both the 1992 and 1998 conventions. She has served as Chairman of Resolutions, and Credentials and Tellers committees and led various Firesides and Convention workshops as a presenter and facilitator. She led the revision of the Membership Education Experience debuting at the 2014 convention. She has actively participated in Extension efforts since 2010 with the focus on updating extension presentations and submissions and statistical analysis of opportunities.  She is past president of the Fort Worth Chi Omega Alumnae and recipient of The Outstanding Alumna Award. In 2010, 2012 and 2014, Laura was elected to serve in the position of S.N.V. on the Supreme Governing Council. In 2016 and 2018, she was elected as S.T.B.

Laura is a member of the 1895 Society and the Margaret Hyde Heritage Society.

Laura has been very involved with TCU having served six years on the Board of Trustees and as a member of the Executive Committee. She has also served as President of the National Alumni Association. She has received the Alumni Service Award, the President’s Service Award and the Outstanding Sorority Advisor Award all at TCU.

Laura has been active in the Fort Worth community, serving in various leadership positions on Boards that include the Junior League, Trinity Valley School and the University Christian Church, where she is currently an elder.  Her Board experience includes National Conference of Community & Justice, YWCA of Tarrant County, I Have a Dream Foundation, Women’s Health Exchange of Andrews Hospital/Baylor All Saints, and Jewel Charity.

Laura has received numerous accolades in the banking profession and in her community.  Of particular note, Laura was recognized last year as Tarrant County’s Banker of the Year and honored as a Great Woman of Texas by The Fort Worth Business Press.

Laura and her husband, Tod, a member of Lambda Chi Alpha, have two SAE sons – Jay, who is married to Emily, and Scott, who is married to Christal. They are all graduates of TCU. She is a grandmother to Jack, Molly Kate, Michael, Robbie, Ford, and Maggie. She and her family reside in Ft. Worth, Texas.

Anna Funderburk Buckner
Alpha Beta | Auburn University

Anna was initiated into the Alpha Beta Chapter at Auburn University. Anna served her chapter as GH, and upon graduation traveled as a National Consultant. She received her Master of Business Administration in 1995 and her Juris Doctorate from Cumberland School of Law where she graduated Magna Cum Laude.

For Chi Omega, Anna served on the National Recruitment Team for 17 years.  She has been on staff at several Conventions and Firesides. Anna served as an advisor for 18 years at the Omicron Lambda Chapter of Chi Omega at Birmingham Southern College.

Anna is a member of the Auburn Chi Omega Alumnae Chapter Anna has traveled for Chi Omega extensively for “Choices” visits and on-site recruitment visits. She  served as an attorney for NPC’s “Something of Value” program where she traveled to campuses nationwide to perform mock trials on various risk management issues.

In 2012 and 2014, Anna was elected to serve as the S.T.B. on the Supreme Governing Council. In 2016 and 2018, she was elected to serve as S.N.V.  In her role as S.N.V., she has worked closely with Chi Omega’s financial team in navigating the financial challenges of our industry as a result of COVID-19.

Anna has served as an ex officio member of the Chi Omega Foundation’s Board of Trustees.  She is a member of the 1895 Society.

Professionally, Anna owns a law firm specializing in estates, trusts, taxation, real estate, corporate law & wealth transfer planning. She is a Fellow in the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and is a Counsel Member of the Alabama Law Institute. In 2012 – 2017, Anna was listed under Best Lawyers in America in the Trusts and Estates area. She has served on Boards associated with her profession, authored numerous articles, and presented at many conferences and meetings.  Anna’s legal experience has been extremely beneficial to the mix of skills and competencies of Sisters serving on the Supreme Governing Council.

Noted for her teaching and training skills, Anna teaches a course at Auburn University called Gender, Wealth, and Philanthrophy.  She has also served as an adjunct professor at Cumberland School of Law.

In her community, Anna has served on the Board of the Kiwanis Club of Auburn and the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Alabama Board of Directors.

Anna resides in Auburn, Alabama, with her husband James Randy “Bo” Buckner, Jr. and their son James Randy “J.R.” Buckner, III.

 

S.K.A.

Missy Ganaway Pask
Sigma Alpha | Miami University

 

Missy was initiated into Sigma Alpha Chapter at Miami University.  She served her chapter as both G.M. and Asst. G.K.A.  Upon graduation, Missy traveled for Chi Omega as a National Leadership Consultant for two years—1988 to 1990.

A longtime Chi Omega volunteer, Missy has been a member of the Rochester, New York, the Dayton, Ohio, and, currently, the Montgomery County Chi Omega Alumnae chapters. Her Chi Omega involvement runs the gamut of volunteer experiences, serving as a chapter advisor and member of the Extension Team, Risk Management Team, and the National Advisory Training Team.  Missy served as a Firesides leader twice—in 1993 and again in 2007.  She was Chi Omega’s Convention Director for six years.  In 2013, Missy served on the Centennial Planning Committee for Sigma Alpha Chapter of Chi Omega at Miami University.

In 2014, Missy was elected to serve as the S.M. on the Supreme Governing Council, and was reelected to that position in 2016 and 2018.  In her role as S.M., she was involved with the revision of the Ritual Book and Special Ceremonies Book.  In addition, she has served as liaison to Chi Omega’s Alumnae Connections Team that helped launch the successful 75 Year Member Recognition Program.

Missy is a member of the 1895 Society.

Missy has been active in her community with Junior League, National Charity League (NCL), Make-A-Wish North Texas Chapter, parent clubs and school committees as well as her church.

Professionally, Missy currently owns MGP Interiors and Design. Missy is married to John Pask.  They have two daughters, MacKenzie, a graduate of Texas A&M and initiate of the Xi Kappa Chapter, and Morgan, who just finished her junior year at the University of Oklahoma and is a member of the Epsilon Alpha Chapter. Missy and her family currently reside in Dallas, Texas.

Jill Diane Bowman
Zeta Beta | University of Arizona

 

Jill is an initiate of Zeta Beta Chapter at the University of Arizona.  Jill served her chapter as GH, and upon graduation traveled as a National Leadership Consultant for two years, 1997-1999.

Professionally, Jill has background in healthcare care management consulting projects.  She has edited and submitted articles to medical journals.  Jill is currently an independent healthcare consultant and aquatics director for Eastmoor Swim & Tennis Club in Denver, Colorado.

Jill has a long record of volunteer service at the national level for Chi Omega.  Her Chi Omega resume includes: member of the Chi Omega NPC Team, NPC Area Advisor, National Recruitment Team, Firesides Leader, Firesides and Convention staff, and Extension Presentation Teams.

As member Chi Omega’s delegation to NPC, Jill assumed the role of coach and mentor as an NPC Area Advisor to  several campuses.  She has served Chi Omega’s representative to NPC in another capacity as a Release Figure Methodology (RFM) specialist for 13 years.  The RFM specialist position is intricate and involves figuring out the release numbers for sorority chapters on campuses during recruitment.

Jill was most recently tapped by the Governing Council to lead Chi Omega’s Membership Experience Task Force and deliver on outcomes that resulted in the roll out this year of a fresh, new approach to education and programs.

Jill has an extensive background with chapter advising, serving as a Scholarship Advisor to Kappa Lambda Chapter at University of California—San Diego and Recruitment Advisor at Mu Chapter at University of California–Berkeley.  She has been serving most recently as the Recruitment Advisor to one of our newest chapters–Zeta Mu Chapter at the University of Denver.

Jill adds to the SGC team great depth of leadership in community and non-profit organizations, including serving on the Board as President of the Parent Teacher Organization at her children’s school, Swim and Dive Team Coordinator, and Vice President of Membership on the Board of Directors for the Junior League of Denver.  She also has held active roles at the Greenwood Community Church.

Jill resides in Denver, Colorado, with her Sigma Chi husband, Brent, and two children—daughter Brynn and son Drew.

Elaine Baker
Pi | Tennessee

 

Elaine was initiated into Pi Chapter at University of Tennessee and received her Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry and Mathematics. Elaine served her chapter as Recruitment Chair and G.T.B.  

For Chi Omega, Elaine has served as Financial Advisor to Tau Zeta at Emory and Personnel Advisor at Pi Chapter at Tennessee. On the national level, Elaine served on the National Recruitment Team for 9 years, Co-Leader of Firesides, Co-Chair of the Strategic Volunteer Development Initiative, Chair of the Nancy Walton Laurie Leadership Institute, and Chair of this Convention’s Resolutions Committee. 

Under Elaine’s leadership as Chair of The Nancy Walton Laurie Leadership Institute of Chi Omega, The Laurie Leadership Institute has seen double digit increases in volunteer alumnae with new and diverse talent sets, expansion in the number of participants in Flagship sessions, and enhancement in The Laurie Leadership Institute curriculum (virtual and in person) to ensure audience relevance. As the Co-Chair of the Strategic Volunteer Development Initiative, Elaine had a vision for the group but recognized the various skill sets of members of the group and organized them into four teams resulting in a playbook for alumnae enablement, volunteer support infrastructure, recruiting, training, and retaining volunteers, and prepping future fraternity leaders.     

She is a member of the 1895 Society. 

Professionally, Elaine serves as Senior Vice-President for Global Payments in Atlanta, Georgia. She currently leads the corporate transformation management office to drive execution of change initiatives across the organization to grow global scale and operational efficiencies. She has experience with business continuity planning and risk management, including risk modeling, loss prevention, loss mitigation, and regulatory review. She has also served as Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice-President North American for Elavon. 

In her community, she has served on the following boards: Women Leaders in Action, East Tennessee Baptist Hospital Foundation, The City Ballet, and CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) for children. She has also volunteered for United Way allocations and Habitat for Humanity family selection. 

Elaine lives in Roswell, Georgia with her husband, Brad.
